Foraged in Fiction!

Foraged in Fiction!

Have you ever spotted wild plants or foraging references in your favourite shows, video games, or books? I have to say I get a little excited when I do and so the idea of doing some "Foraged in Fiction" videos has been percolating in my brain for awhile!

In this first episode, I dive into the magical herbal ointment recipe featured in Episode 4 of Disney's Renegade Nell. From “Wool of Bat” to “Fairy’s Fingers” we’ll try to uncover the fascinating historical and botanical meanings behind these curious ingredients.

Along the way, we’ll explore the healing properties of plants like mullein, foxglove, and plantain, while sharing a few chuckles at quirky names like “Beggar’s Buttocks” and “Devil’s Dung.”

Have your own theory about any of the ingredients? Or have you spotted some fictional foraging recently? Share your thoughts in the comments—I’d love to hear from you!

And if you want to watch the show, you can find it here on Disney+.

Until next time, let’s keep learning and growing together! 🌱✨
